Frequently Asked Questions

What format will the programme take?

I thought long and hard about how to deliver this content to you so that it's as helpful as possible. Let's be honest...how many of us have paid for, but never actually finished a course? I know I'm guilty.

I want to get you straight to the good stuff so you can hit the new season running and I figured the best way to do this was to get on a Zoom call and talk you through it all - just like I would with a private client. There will be four group Zoom calls and one private Zoom call.

There will be a group WhatsApp so that we can all connect with each other outside of the Zoom sessions. I'll be in there at scheduled times during the two weeks to answer questions and give feedback.

Do I need any specialist equipment?

No. This course is focused on the styling and art directing side of taking photographs. You'll be able to apply the learning whether you use a smart phone or an SLR camera. It's perfectly possible to take beautiful photographs with a smart phone -  I use an Iphone 14 pro currently as well as a Canon 5D mark iii.

You will need a computer or table for the Zoom calls (and a Zoom account - free) as well as the WhatApp app (free) if you'd like to take part in the group chat.

Will you be emailing out handouts and slides?

There will be a short PDF uploaded to the website for each of the homework assignments, but all the real nuggets of information will be held in the live training sessions.

How much time do I need to dedicate to the programme?

The programme runs over two weeks - with two 90 minute sessions and two 75 minute sessions (so a total of just under 3 hours per week). All sessions will be recorded, so you'll be able to go at your own pace if you'd prefer and watch back whenever you'd like. Alongside these four group sessions - you'll have a 30 minute one-to-one with me.

I will be setting homework during the first three sessions, so that you cement the learning from each session and apply it to your own work. It's a case of the more you put in, the more you'll get out. But, I understand live gets in the way sometimes and it's perfectly possible to attend all the live sessions without doing any of the homework and just play catch-up later.

What happens if I can't make the live sessions?

Each session is recorded and uploaded to the website quickly, so that you'll be able to catch up straightaway if you can't make the sessions in real-time.

Will you be covering much photography?

This programme is designed to elevate your photographs through styling and art direction, but don't worry, we will be covering some of the fundamentals of photography such as camera angles, light and focus. I'll be running more advanced courses at some point that will dive more deeply into using an SLR camera.

Will you be giving individual feedback?

Yes! That is the beauty of this course. We'll be working in a small group and at the end of each group session there will be a chance to ask questions. As part of the programme you'll get a private one-to-one 30 minute mentoring session with me. I'll also be diving into the WhatsApp on Monday and Friday mornings to answer questions/chat/cheerlead the group.

I live in a different time zone to the UK.

The training sessions will be taking place at 10am (GMT). If they don't fit with your schedule, you'll be able to watch them on replay on the website. If the demand is great enough, I'm more than happy to run a programme in a different time zone to mine - just get in touch to register your interest.

I'm a complete beginner, is this programme right for me?

Yes, absolutely. No previous experience is needed.
